Employment of a barrister and a town planner to present Woodland’s case to the Independent Panel Hearing in August last year proved to be  money well spent.

The Independent Panel Report made public at the end of November recommended that the proposed DDO18 was justified and that it should be approved.  As proposed by the Independent Panel, it is not exactly as we would like it to be but it does provide more protection to Woodland than the DDO4 it would replace.

However, there are still two more major steps in the process before the amendment lands on the Minister’s desk for his signature.  The report prepared by the Council’s Strategic Planning Department based on the Independent Panel Report must be approved by the councillors.  Then the Department of Planning and Community Development must approve that report and the final version of the DDO18.

We need Woodland’s continued support if those remaining hurdles are to be overcome.
